MERVE & BESTE MANASTIR
Turkish label MANU Atelier made the headlines this week, as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton attended the opening of V&A Dundee Museum in Scotland, carrying a green box bag designed by sisters Beste and Merve Manastir, co-founders of the brand. MANU Atelier is a sub-brand of “Yesim Canta” established in 1976.  
AKIF CAGATAY KILIC
Born in Seigen, Germany in 1976, Turkish MP Akif Cagatay Kilic attended the European Assembly this week and made the headlines for challenging the European Union Parlimentarians regarding their assessments about HDP, PKK and terror in the Middle East. Kilic is the Head of Turkish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
DAPHNE OZ
Ellis Island Honors Society and American Immigrant Society awarded celebrity chef and Emmy Award winning television host Daphne Oz, for her achievements as a successful second generation Turkish-American. A New York Times bestselling author and Emmy winning co-host of ABC's “The Chew“, Daphne Oz  is the eldest child of famous television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz.
HAKKI AKDENIZ
Ellis Island Honors Society and American Immigrant Society awarded pizza champion Hakki Akdeniz and chef Daphne Oz as the receipients of the first annual Beacon Awards in New York City, on January 10, 2019. Akdeniz holds three pizza championships, and is recognized as a successful business owner and entrepreneur in New York.  
MEHMET HILMI SAHIN
Architect Mehmet Hilmi Sahin's project won a competition in Kazakhstan which will be realized for a history and culture center in the Kazakh city of Turkistan. Turkistan Architect Awards -- which has five main categories and 15 sub-branches -- was launched for the establishment of 15 public buildings in Turkistan.
ILHAMI ATALAY
Orphans in Ethiopia are learning how to paint with the help of painter Ilhami Atalay, as part of an international program titled 'Hayallere Degen Resimler', using art to promote children's education.
